Overberg Accommodation

Overberg Accommodation

This is the southern most tip of South Africa and the African continent and boasts some very luxurious hotels and more affordable bed & breakfast country houses where you will find typical South African hospitality. The countryside has a strong farming tradition which is now being extended into the development of some finest South African vineyards such as Hamilton Russell. Hermanus is a busy town in season and is situated on Walker Bay which is home to breeding Whales between June and December. The coastal scenery is striking with sweeping beaches and the unusual, Protea based, vegetation. Cape Agulhas is the furthest south you can travel in Africa. The coastline is known for it shipwrecks and there is a museum dedicated to the plight of seafarers in the sleepy little town of Bredasdorp. Swellendam was the third town to be established in South Africa. The town centre boasts a fine collection of original Cape Dutch thatched buildings furnished with many period antiques and complete with the enticing aroma of beeswax polish. Nearby is the Bontebok National Park home to the rarest antelope which is natural to the region. You will also see giant Tortoises.
